Spring is just around the corner for The Woodlands neighborhood of Grogan’s Point as its residents prepare for the Northside Lexus Spring Fever 5K Fun Run/Walk on Saturday March 1, 2008. Last year’s event was an outstanding success and the weather was magnificent. As we have come to expect from the residents of Grogan’s Point, the Spring Fever 5K Fun Run/Walk is shaping up to be another first class event and this year it will benefit Montgomery County Youth Services. We are limiting this year’s race to 750 participants so pre-registration is strongly recommended.
Race day events will begin with a children’s 1 mile run at 8:00 A. M. followed immediately by a sanctioned chip-timed 5K at 8:30 A. M. and ending with a post race family event in Grogan’s Point Park. The 5K event will entice runners and walkers of all ages with its flat tree-lined course that starts and finishes at Grogan’s Point Park. All of the children will receive finishing ribbons and individual 5K awards will be presented for the top male and female finishers, top male and female masters (40 and up) and the top three male and female finishers in 6 different age categories. The post race family event will include the awards ceremony, youth-friendly games, music, food, drinks, vendor expos and a variety of door prizes will be presented to many lucky winners.
This event is presented by Grogan’s Point Charitable Giving, a non-profit 501 (c) (3) organization, in support of Montgomery County Youth Services. MCYS has been a valuable asset to our community for over 25 years dedicating their time and effort and focusing on supporting our youth and their families through crisis counseling, shelter programs, and prevention services.
The Spring Fever 5K Fun Run/Walk would not be possible without the assistance of many local sponsoring businesses and volunteers. Our title sponsor is Northside Lexus. Gold Sponsors for this event include Luke’s Locker, Edward Estrada, D.D.S., Cheryle Sanderson and Alliance Graphics. Their generosity together with the efforts of the many volunteers will ensure the success of this event. Sponsorships are still available by calling Ryan Stick at 281-943-2312.
Please get a head start on spring and join your friends and neighbors for a fun filled morning on March 1, 2008. Registration form can be found here or by contacting Ryan Stick at 281-943-2312 or Sean McNelis at 281-797-3381. Klick here for a map.
